Gold Flashed Watches, Let's See Yours
I think the gold flashed and 2 tone watches are very interesting examples of the quailty workmanship that went into the American Made Watches..

Here is two examples let us see yours!

The first one is a BW Raymond 21 jewel...

some of the 2 tone and gold flashed movement,s are still selling at what i think are cheap prices..

Fred Hansen will recognize this BW Raymond as the one he sold to me.

The serial number 40470169 shows that it was made in 1941, the same year that United States Army Air Corps changed it's official name to United States Army Air Forces. This is why the watch movement has the marking U.S. ARMY A.C. as shown in the inset to the picture. The large wheel is for the sweep second hand on the GMT 24 hour dial. The movement is in the correct case with military markings.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What is the chronology of the US Army Air Forces? It has had several names over the years. What were the names and in what year did they change?

1907 - Aeronautical Section of the Signal Corps.
1914 - Aviation Section (Signal Corps).
1918 - United States Army Air Service
1926 - United States Army Air Corps
1941 - United States Army Air Forces
1947 - United States Air Force

Samie

If I knew the answer to your question, that 940 would be mine. It belongs to a customer of a local jeweler. I hope to meet him soon, and I hope he likes glow in the dark timex's.

The Rockford above did sell last spring on Ebay.... for some serious $$.

During this time frame another example was spotted in a showcase at drawbridge, but not in the condition of this example. I assume it did not sell and is back in canada.

here is the dial on the Above posted Rockford...
