Hello everybody;

Well, I have searched and searched through the "Complete Guide" until I'm blue in the face, and still cannot find what "ABP" stands for in the place where it prices the watches.

I understand what Mint means and Ex-Fn but not the ABP

Also I noticed there is another one like Ex-Fn but instead of the Ex-Fn it says Ex-En. Is this a typo or is there an Ex-En?

Bud, the page that Tom gave you is the description of the Abbreviations used in a watch description, however, what you asked for is on the facing page, page 100, under A B C....

A = ABP

B = Ex-Fn

C = Mint

I believe if you look at the page I mentioned you will see the 1st abbreviation listed is ABP but yes it is also shown on the page you mentioned & thank you for looking out for me.

Another way of remembering it is 'Average Base Price'.

That's how I remember it.

Yeah Tom, I know the ABP definition is in the definitions page as is EX as being (Extra nice Far above Average)....but notice that Mint is not in the definitions page and besides that all three column pricing is very clearly defined on page 100 without getting lost along with all the other watch definitions....

Besides, I just look at the pricing as Low - Medium - High, "Book Values".... without getting in to the philosophies as to why....

Hey Mark, that's a good way to look at it and I guess we all develop our own method of evaluating price -vs- quality/condition....and that's okay....

No problem Bud, quite frankly, I didn't know that ABP was even in the definitions page until recently, just hadn't looked for it there....

Like ol' Chickey Baby used to say when calling the Lakers games, "No Harm, No Foul"....

Was " Absolute Bottom Price"

Now I am going to have to revamp my whole

Watch vocabulary [ A-G-A-I-N ]

Anyways, on a serious note, I always liked mine better;

ABP- ave wholesale price needing attentions

EXC- Excellent condition needing nothing

MINT- like as to as close to new as possible

Then in-between grades could be added to as warranted by remarks/pictures/descriptions/etc.

I always thought ABP was a funny term because price is always dependent upon a willing buyer and seller. I think ABP and other related terms are just rough guides. I believe Buster has it pretty well stated.
