Eugene BuffardExtra is not solid. Some Howard cases are marked Extra Also.

Martin WagnerPeter:
It is my understanding, from what I have read, that Crescent cases marked "extra" would be the equivalent of cases from other manufacturers that are marked 25 or 30 year cases.

Richard M. JonesPeter, I have had cases marked extra from various manufacturers and from what I can determine they represent the makers best quality gold filled cases, perhaps with more workmanship in the manufacturing and or grading of the case. I have never seen a solid gold case marked extra but I do remember a cheap case with a Swiss fake watch that was marked extra. The quality certainly belied the extra stamp!

Donald TrumbleI agree with the posts above about "Extra" markings.
Additionally, the marking "Warranted Permanently" meant the case was warranted that it would never wear through to the brass. One post of Lindell's that I remember from a few years ago explained those who made these cases had no idea they would be around for such a long time.
Forever is a long, long time.
