Waltham CPR-question.
Hi all,
I´m a bit suspicious about this Waltham CPR. The serial number 12653406 shows Grade PSB and hunting case (this is open face) in Waltham data base. It has a nice double sunk 24 hour dial signed WALTHAM. Pattern on barrel bridge does not match the train bridge!? Got a slight feeling that the barrel bridge is not original to the rest of the movement. Hoping that anyone could bring some light over this issue.
Kind regards,
Bernhard

Bernhard, Not to add to the confusion but the Ehrhardt Waltham guide shows #12653406 as an A.T.&Co. 17J OF.

Looks about the same as mine, no. 8858274 which is listed as A.T.&Co. If you look @ the number on the underside the balance bridge it should match the number on the plate.

Thanks Derek, dont know if looking under balance cock does help much when it might be that the barrel bridge is swapped. I will check anyway. Looks like the pattern on yours goes better together.

Bernhardt, check the number on the underside of the Barrel Bridge. Waltham watch Co. was known to do little things to satisfy customers and visitors with special versions of their watches. Many of us would not be surprised that Waltham made a larger number of these "Beaver" plates for use beyond their listed CPR production that could be attached to an 1883 movement to satisfy a customer who wanted to Commemorate the CPR.

To consider the legitimacy of a watch like this, such a watch should be fitted with a 24 hour dial and cased in a Canadian Brand Named case.

Ok, so it is actually the serial number (12653406) that should appear underside the barrel bridge then?

Thanks David for your response.
