Hi all,
Is there any way without disassembly one can tell if the watch has the stopworks in / on it ?
Thaks,
Bill

At full wind, an 18s Elgin with stop works MAY feel like you hit a solid stop rather than feeling the slight spring overwind tension allowed by the "click" to jump back (preventing premature spring breakage at colder temps) because the watch is not yet fully wound and instead is locked by the "stopworks" from going to full windup.

If the watch is gummy because it has not been serviced, this "feel" may not be there.
