I have a GF size 16 case and nothing to go in it!
I have a very nice GF'd size 16 case and nothing to go in it. Frown It is marked;

Made for Reliance by Illinois Watch Case Co. Elgin U.S.A. Warranted 10 years.

I do not see any brass and the pattern on the back of the case is very nice and in great condition.

Will anything fit it other than a Reliance? I would like to keep the case but if nothing fits I will have to sell it.

Thanks,
Harry

You should be able to fit any 16S movement in that case. One possible problem would be if you had a lever set movement and your case did not have a cutout for a lever mechanism.

Harry,
I will check tomorrow...I have a couple of those cases..I am thinking that I haven't used them because they have a little bigger opening than a 16 size movement but I can't remember..I will check and let you know...

The problem seems to be that they are not thick enough. I put a Seth Thomas in it and I think it might work but I don't know if I have any case mounting screws. Haven't had a chance to look but it seems it may be a tad to thick.

I tried a Hamilton and it is way to thick. The case mounting screws will not tighten down and even if they did the Back will not tighten all the way down as the movement is too thick.

They both if perfect in the opening though.

I would be interested in knowing if they are a little bigger than normal. Might be a good way to look for 1888 Waltham cases.

Jim I just checked and a Model 1888 will not go in.

I just discovered I bought a pig in a poke. The numbers on the case do not match. What a shame it was such a nice looking case.

Off to the scrap GF cases it goes.

Harry,
The cases I was thinking about were Equity Watch cases...My mistake...Interesting tho I might try a 1888 movement in them and see what happens..They seem to be a little larger than a 16 sz. movement..

Hi Gary,

I did try a model 1888 but it would not go into the opening. All the regular 16s movements fit but either the front bezel will not screw on or the back bezel will not screw on depending on the manufacturer of the movement.

I think it would have to be a Ingersoll Trenton and probably a Reliance..
