Peter NicholsonThis is a Keystone 18 size, 15 jewel 'dustproof' movement circa 1890. It has a small acrylic 'window' to cover the only opening in the plate of the movement to seal the movement completely from dust. I think the movement and case are original to each other as I believe the Metropolitan Watch Case Company cases are mostly seen on Lancaster Watches. which was the forerunner to the Keystone Watch Company. It also retains the original dial.

Ethan LipsigAlthough I prefer open face watches, I have many pretty hunters. I am posting photos of five of the more unusual or prettier ones, starting with this oval, 18k basket weave Audemars Piguet hunter.

Ethan LipsigOne of my favorites is this 18k hunter with an unusual satin finish and applied art noveau decoration. Although signed by Poitevin, I believe the movement, or at least the ebauche, to be by Louis Audemars.

Ethan LipsigHere is a 14k J.J. Badollet with an enameled portrait of Tsar Nicholas II on one cover and the Order of St. George Cross on the other. This Order was and, I believe, again now is Russia's highest military honor. This watch must have an interesting history, but I don't know what it is.

Ethan LipsigPerhaps the prettiest hunter I have is this 14k AWCO-cased American Watch Co. Model l872.

Ethan LipsigDial. This is a proper, single sunk glass enamel dial, but different from the usual AWCO Model 1872 dial.
