Illinois vs Private label
A while back I was looking for a dial for this watch. I now have found two different dials. I am not looking for a value on this watch. It is a 21 jewel Illinois Sangamo, hunting movement. What I am trying to understand is whether having the Illinois dial on it, as opposed to the Jason Weiler & Sons, dial affects the valuation on the watch.

I would use the Illinois dial. Condition, Condition. A "Double sunk Gothic style Arabic Numeral dial" was the "factory" part.

I think you will find David that the numerals are right on the Illinois marked dial but the signature is not.

The signature of the "Illinois Watch Co" should also be in "Olde English" font.

David correctly chose the DSD for the watch and Bila correctly said it needs to be in "Old English" font on the signature. So actually neither dial shown would be correct. This 1900 two-tone ribbon Sangamo hunter movement deserves the best that can be found. If there is absence of the best, then I too would go with the DSD, that is shown, over the SSD that is a "PL" dial..

regards,
bb

I was having great difficulty finding a dial with the correct dial feet pattern to fit this watch. If someone has a dial with the correct font that matches this pattern, I would be interested in buying it.

The correct dials are very hard to source Ken, the cost will also be high if you can find a good one.
