Late Run Elgin grade 571, looks like new
This is a late run (near the end of the line) Elgin 571 BWR. When people say "Like New" sometimes you wonder what they think new looks like but I will let you guys be the judge on this one.

I have a Elgin 571 in a Star 3057 stainless steel case.

It obviously was never carried, and when I had it COA'd my watch maker said it had never been disassembled or run much.

But, it didn't look untouched on the rear cover because it probably spent it's years on it's back in the sock drawer.

Claude, your watch looks like it just came out of the jeweler's display case, i.e. 'like new' or 'same as new' or 'NOS'.

Nice find.

Joe I also have a 571 in the SS case and that is my wear watch since it is hard to hurt or damage the case. The seller had 3 total and all in about the same condition but in the case of this one I did have to replace the hour and min hand since for some reason they were discolored.

Claude - What a coincidence . . . I have a second 571 as well that I carry regularly. My second 571 is also in a factory 3057 Star stainless steel case and it definitely shows honest pocket wear.

Both my 571's rival a quartz watch in their time keeping ability. They will remain within several seconds of the correct time for weeks on end. It's amazing.
