Question About Sangamo Specials
I've been wondering about this forever, but had nobody to ask:The 17s Sangamo Specials ,from all the pictures and ads I've seen, appear to have a plain-looking straight-line damaskeening pattern.Anyone know why they didn't do something more elaborate on their highest grade and probably most expensive RR watch? That wide line pattern seems to be most often used on much lower Illinois grades.Someday, if my ship ever comes in, I'd love to get one. It's nice to be able to dream though!...Ted Brown.

High quality isn't necessarily synonymous with elaborate damaskeening in early 20th Century pocket watches.

Here is a Patek Phillippe, circa 1919 , whose understated elegance illustrates that point.
