This is on a Columbia 18sz Illinois

Well Columbia was a Private label on some Kw 11J 18sz models The other symbol appears to be I &. F, or perhaps L &. F All of the Columbia's I have seen did not have the other engraving but then I have only seen a few anyhow since they don't command my attention.

Some of the 9700 Illinois "Columbia" watches were produced for the "Independent Watch Co.", Fredonia, New York which may explain the signature under "Columbia" on the Movement. Also, I see that yours is a fifth pinion movement which was usually done on the early Stem wind-Lever set movements. I can find out more if you can give me the serial number.

Serial # 348962. I can see a L&F which actually I know it was never a railroad watch. But I try to collect things that are unusual. Thanks every one for any info that you can give me. It is a stem and key wind and a lever set. It is also in a Blauer Coin #65834

This was a "short run" of 100 watches made in December 1881 that immediatly followed a "mixed" run of Independent Watch Co. and other movements. I believe that the "C&F" (?) Initials on yours are certainly a short run for some Jeweler or watchmaker.
If that great case and dial present as well as the movement. you have a great collectible!

The dial is not in that good of condition. But a original housed Illinois in a coin case For $50. I guess I'll keep it for a while.
