Peter SheaWhat Santa Fe movements/dials/hands would be proper for this case?
Steve and All,
In the process of collecting 16S Hamiltons, I stumbled across this 978 in an Illinois/Santa Fe case number # 5997762. There appear to be case screw marks at the 1:00 & 7:00 O’clock positions. What serial number range of Santa Fe movements would be correct for this particular case?
Additionally, what dial(s) and hands are proper for these movements?
Thanks,
Pete

Steve MiddlesworthPete,
Here is a 1926 ad from the Meggers book and your case looks like the one on the left. Serial numbers for that year were 4700000-4850000. I don't think there was a relationship between the case number and the movement number but I may be wrong. That should give you a little to go on.
The question is, when did they start using that case and for how long. Maybe some club members who own these models would care to elaborate or share what they know.
Steve
