Like new Elgin with original correct shipping box
I picked this grade 575 up off our fav auction and the pictures made it look worse than it was.

This watch was in the original shipping box (showing age) and cloth pouch and it looks like dad wore it once, scraped the case a little and put it away and did not wear it again.

Not a bad pick up for under $80, pictures to follow.

Case back still has original "butler lines", and you see the scrape in the upper right area.

With back put back on, in person you do not see the scrape and the camera makes it appear much worse.

I know most people don't even come close to a watch with an engraved back but it does not hinder me from picking one up. The strangest one I have is an Elgin grade 506 and it must have been some guy's prized pocession because when he died they put his name, birth date and the date he died on the back. The case is not a good as this one but very close, minus the scrape.

Claude,I am like you in that respect.Engraving only gives it life and I am sure the owner held it in high esteem.
