Movement, abit fuzzy, I am no Lindell! Smile The movement SN is 706821 as has been pointed out it is not legible in my photo. I'll just say the photo is fuzzy due to operator error, not because it is flawed. It is near (if not) pristine.

I have two 990's the one and two screw version and both are extremely nice watches in both looks and timekeeping. I see people pass the 990 by for 992's even though the 990 is a nicer watch and cost a bit more when made. To me these are probably some of the best looking watches that Hamilton made.

I agree Claude, the movements are spectacular! I'll take a better photo tomorrow and replace the fuzzy one. I was in a hurry. Both the 990 and 991's are probably as nice looking as any movement.

I think the 990 had gold jewel settings, poised pallet fork, chamfered regulator spring, then whatever extra fine ruby jewels vs fine ruby jewels for the 992 amounts to and less made and typically you can pick them up for less than the 992. That is why I grabbed my two.

Mike,

Jazzy movements like this one are hard to photograph Cool you did fine.

Total production on the 990 is just over 16,000 as compared to nearly 550,000 when adding up all the 992 variants. As Claude pointed out these are finely finished premium quality watches and of course as a bonus number 706821 can also be expected to have a four foot dial.

One thing more, the "Ball Model" case is not original to the movement, most collectors would use it for a Ball-Waltham as there are apparent case-screw marks from a Ball-Waltham movement showing most notably by the "C" of "Hamilton Watch Co." on the train bridge.

Actually I have a Ball Waltham that needs a correct case and will remove it from its current case and simply swap them. Then they will both be housed in correct cases although not original cases.
