David AbbeSome "Champions" are worth saving!
As my experience grows with each maker's watches, it seems that the Hampdens from the Canton Ohio days were maligned and misused more often than not! Repairing them is always a bigger chore because of their past (dis-)service. Given that, a little $15.00 "Champion" with a broken main showed up and caught my fancy because on inspection it seemed to have lived a long life in the service of someone who cared for it and saw that it was properly serviced. THEN the mainspring broke and it sat in the "I will get it fixed mext weeK" status until the grand-child of the owner threw it out on eBay.
This watch is still a beauty inside and out. It showed years of use but no misuse. So now it is
MY 7 jewel Hampden "Champion" which serves as an example that these things will always give back what you deserve for their maintenance and respect of service.

John J. Flahive IIIDavid,
I agree that Hampdens don't get their due. Nice watch and worthy of your efforts to revive it. I like the "pie-crust" damasakeening pattern.
