Mario PaganiMy last catch ... an 1884 Waltham
This big watch arrived this morning, almost 4 oz. of English silver & movement. As far as I know, it should be a model 1877, 7 jewels, size 18, steel balance wheel, Home or St. Martyn Square. The case is hallmarked Birmingham 1883 by the ubiquitous Alfred Bedford. Have I gathered right informations ? Could you kindly add something, if so ?
Thanks a lot

William D. WhiteMario,
Looks like the original case so it sounds like it was made for the British market. Others who know much more than I do will likely chime in with better information. Nice old Waltham though!

Mario PaganiDavid, a pleasure reading you. There was a "Complete price guide" question lingering below it, as you might imagine. If I could assume that this is a Martyn Square, and, of course it has been exported, it would really be a bargain, I paid out about 35 USD for this watch...
Incidentally, I'm trying to have it work, and some steps have been done, now runs, not continously, but run. When arrived was dead stuck.
Thanks for your answer from your friend down in Italy
PS: I am studying a very early Baume
