Theodore J. Brown Sr.Rob, the Alex Weed is an early Hampden, no idea on the Swiss movement.The Weed watches are listed in the Hampden book,one is shown with an odd shaped barrel cover with an extra screw holding it on, not like yours.That Swiss one has kind of a Longines style regulator, though. Best Regards, Ted.

If the ser. no. is 100442 that would make it a Hampden 15J Woolworth Grade. one of a 9650 total production.

Andy Schwartzquote:
JC Grogan Pittsburg Pa
Grogan was a retailer in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area circa early 1900s to mid 1920s and did not manufacture watches. All known examples were actually manufactured in Switzerland and branded by the company--and they are rated very good to fine for quality.

Not the Audemars Piguet;
It was the manufacure of Louis Benjamin Audemars sons that went bankrupt in 1885.

Richard M. JonesSeeing the Mention of J C Grogan, have a high quality 12 size Grogan watch that appears to be an Agassiz and from around 1900. In researching the name I found they were a high end jeweler and apparently imported better quality Swiss movements for their retail trade. I wondered if they were inspectors but never got that far.
