Jon HartIllinois - Stewart Special - information request
The BIG IL book states the movement is a Grade 605, but does not include any discussion on it after Grade 604 on pg 139. Any thoughts - anyone ???
The Demaskeening is interesting
It is a pendant set, w/ looks to be a gold train, and made roughly 1916

David AbbeAccording to the Illinois Meggers and Ehrhardt Illinois Book Richard referenced, your very nice S/N2883004 Stewart Special is especially nice as it is #3 from the very first production run of 300 in this named grade 605 .
Apparently this named grade 605 had a total production of 2850 named Stewart Specials in the Serial Number range of 2883001-4118900 in the 1916-1922 time frame.
Furthermore these movements were finished with Gold inlaid two-tone, or regular Damaskeened Nickel Gold Filled engraved plates and Gilded or nickel polished Oval Head screws.
Yours is certainly an excellent example of this descriptive style.
