David, the pictured covered movement appears to be a Fusee-"Verge" escapement movement of late 18th century vintage. At that time these were produced by hand using a plethora of hand-made "cottage industry" parts assembled by another plethora of "watchmakers" who fiddled, filed and tweezed at things until they were satisfied with the results, wherupon they put their name on the finally cased watch and sold it.

PP 450-454 of the price guide lists about 500 names of various Watch Makers and better yet following that listed on pp 455-457 are the more important Hallmarks which you can compare to the case markings to date the watch.

Big name in English horology and much sought after. In partnership with Atkins made very fine marine chronometers.
