I have 3 pocket watches that were my grandfather's and I don;t know what to do with them. they do not work, but I hate to just trash them.
1- Longines, sterling silver, no glass front
2- Elgin - gold tone case
3- no name on face, inside says "ACIER" & "GAIAN???" inside a shield looking thing. swiss on the workings

Phillip SanchezHi Kathy,
You could just stick them in our auction. I am certain there are members here that would love to have them.

Eric UnseltDoubtless there would be interest - I like the dial on the third watch myself.

Kathy Merrittthank you both for answering. Just so I understand, people would like them for parts, or would they fix them so they work?

Tom Bruntoni would think they would fix them for sure

Roger J. NolfeKathy...Do they have any sentimental value to you? If so, I would think about maybe repairing them and passing them down in your family. Try to document the provenance if you can and keep the information with the watches.

Jerry KingHello Kathy,
Welcome to IHC185, the Friendlest Horology Club on the Internet....
You have three nice looking watches and I would only echo what Roger has said....If you would like to keep them to pass down, it is probably important to get them repaired and restored....
Roger is one of our Watchmaker Members and he knows what he is talking about....
I would suggest that you join us as a member by going here
Join IHC185 and Pay Dues here The dues are only $12.00 a year and the benefits are much greater.... We would love to have you join us....
Regards,
Jerry
