A gold cased waltham saved from the 'scrappers'
I bought this 10k solid gold cased Waltham from the previous owner just as he was removing the movement to scrap the case. It's a model 1890 Riverside 17 jewel 6 size SN 6031565 in superb working order. I have not been collecting American pocket watches very long (less than a year), but I paid the scrap value for it and think it was worth saving. Any details regarding the watch would be appreciated.

Peter,
As you are probably aware, it is a hunter case ladies size watch called a "demi~hunter". You are able to observe the correct time without flipping open the lid. The item in the condition shown and being solid gold as stated add up to be quite a nice item indeed! The blue enameling work looks pristine and all in all quite a desirable item. I would expect that you have a unique and very collectable item in very nice condition and a high jeweled item for the time frame Smile Congratulations on your new find Big Grin

bb

Buster,
Thanks for your response. I don't know if it was made for the English market, but I think it was cased in this country. The case is stamped 10c( and tests for gold) and also the initials A.B the initials I believe of Alfred Bedford who was in charge of Walthams London office at the time. I have noticed that the movement is engraved with the word Adjusted but does not mention positions. The enamel and the case do appear to be in very good condition.
