Illinois 16s ? (Mystery Watch!)
Hi All

What would be under this type of Illinois Dial? I think it is a 16s watch.

Thanks for comments

With measurements I can't say it's a 16s. Also definitely not a RR unit as the Roman dial shows that. It looks to be a snap off case back and the information you need is in there. Just the serial number alone will tell you what it is.

My educated guess:

1885ish silveroid two hinge case, 18S movement.

Not likely to be earlier as a stem winder and most likely stem set rather than lever set.

Could be a transitional watch (KW to SW) era.

Illinois transition movement or model2 7j IMHO.

Sorry forgot to tell you this is a mystery watch. Should have it in hand early next week. It is paired with other watches which I can verify are 12s & 16s watches, that is way I said it was a 16s watch.

Thanks for the guesses.

Below is a Hussy&Goss signed 11J 5th pinion Transition 18s Illinois movement with the (fairly rare) fancy Box Filigreed signature dial that passed through my collection. The dial signature of the watch in question actually looks very different and actually on inspection looks like it was added by hand sometime after the watch was made. That said Keith, the only way to ID this watch is to see the movement.

Pendant set model 2 = 1 run of 2500 in 1889
Lever set model 3 = 1 run of 2500 in 1889

The best I can figure is that it was a run of 5000 with half pendant set and half lever set.

3 hinge case tells me it has a covet or dust cover on the back... nice.

I'd say, that's a pretty cool find.
