992 Old Pattern-One Screw Question

992--serial no. 1088450. At what serial number did the 992's go to the narrow stripe pattern?

Tony, Just to bring this to the front again.

I think I just may have two 1913 992's that have one and two screws. I'm pretty sure that it was right around that time, and also with the 4 foot dials.

The #974 went to the one screw winding hub in 1913. I would seem reasonable to believe that the 992 changed in the same time frame.

Thanks Richard. Your 992 is an old pattern with two screws on small wheel. Still looking for an early 992 with the narrow stripe damaskeening.

Looking at Lindell's watches I see he has a 1918 production 992 number 1314288 with the narrow damaskeening that continued through until the 992 Elinvars were introduced in 1930 production. I see no information as to exactly when Hamilton stopped the design both you and Richard shared and the narrow pattern began, but perhaps that 1918 production number from Lindell's collection might begin to help narrow it down.

Today I discovered a picture on a web site of a 992 with narrow stripe pattern--serial number 1131979.

As of this date/////
Highest 992 serial number I have seen for the old pattern is 1,088,450.
Earliest 992 serial number I have seen for the narrow stripe pattern is 1,131,979.
Let me know if you have a 992 with a number between the two I have noted and what pattern does it have.

Can someone explain what the 992 "Extra" shown in the price guide is. Is the movement marked extra or is it the better damaskeening on the older style ?? I've heard it was just the boxes that were marked extra
