Illinois Watch Co. Grade 179 "Click" to Login or Register

Grade 179 was the predecessor to Sangamo grade. In the Guide to Watches it's a two ** star watch. The grade was made with private labels or Illinois Watch Co. Nice looking movements.

The example below recently auctioned online but my bid was shy and interest was high.

I did not win it. But I love them Gettys.

Great watch Richard. Following your same line of reasoning, I picked up a PL Grade 179 in July, marked A.L. Haman & Co., St. Paul, Minn. (movement #1302201, circa 1896).

Best Regards,

Ed,

That is an awesome watch. I've been researching A L Haman & Co all morning and was wondering if you would like to start another post on the private label or can I?

I don't see why not. Smile

All I know about them is that thery were a Ball-associated jeweler.
