Help identifying watch and value "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I recently bought an Illinois pocket watch, perhaps size 12, White Gold filled, with serial number 4755989.

The face appears to be engraved, and the thing I've not seen on any web pictures is that the face of the second hand sweep says "Century."

Can anyone give me some insight?

Joe,

Your watch is a size 12, 17 Jewel, Grade 405 Model 3 pendant set from 1925. Illinois made about 380,000 like it in Open face and about 20,000 Hunting cased. I couldn’t find Century as a private label so I don’t know the significance of that marking. The Guide lists value for a Grade 405 as $40.00, $75.00, and $100.00 depending upon condition.

Thanks RR. The values you listed are consistent with what I paid.

I would still like to figure out the "century" marking, so if anyone else has some knowledge of this label, I would much appreciate.
