James ThormanBunn Special Plain Jane Dial Correct?
Hello,
This dial looks to be a legitimate plain jane type dial with straightline illinois.
I have found the red five minute markers on the 18s Bunn Specials that are the same.
Is this genuine factory 16s dial ?
It is on a 1922 23 jewel BS.
When did the change to arched illinois happen?
Thanks for the info! Regards, James

John WatkinsThe archive here on the site for
18-size Bunns and Bunn Specials says that use of the "straight-line" dials ended about 1917. There is not a similar reference here for the 16-size watches, at least as far as I know.
I would also think that a Bunn Special from the 1920s like yours would have a double-sunk dial, and from the photo it looks it is single-sunk.
For what it's worth, my 16-size Bunn Special from 1924 has a double-sunk bold "arrows-in" dial with the arched lettering.
Hope this helps. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I will have something to add.
