Help with info on a Hampden special railway 18s 23j
I picked up a 18s 23j Hampden special railway hunter serial number 1201747 . The case is a gold box case with an anchor and serpent serial # 1613446. Anyone have an idea on how many were produced. Any information would be appreciated.
Thank's Bernie

Bernie, that is a beautiful Hampden ! There's no Hampden serial number list, so there is no way to really tell how many like yours were made.Same goes for the case, but those box-hinge cases aren't any too common. They were pretty expensive when they were made. That's a nice combination, the highest RR grade Hampden movement in such an elaborate case!!

A nice watch & a great timekeeper when correctly serviced Bernie, total of just over 42,000 (overall approximately) made of these in seven different variations, of your variation style 3,385 (approximately) were produced from that overall number.

This should be a Gold-inlaid Tu-Tone movement, just wondering if it is still a vibrant color as it is hard to see from the lighting in the photos. If the Tu-tone is faint/washed-out (mostly caused from the wrong type of cleaning solution or polishing of the plates) it will greatly reduce it's collectibility and value.

Cheers,
Bila
