Hi All

Did all the open face O size grades (101, 103, 111, 121 & 151) have the no seconds bit dials?

Regards

Keith

Hello Keith,

The earlier First and Second Model Open-Face South-Bend 0-size such as your Grade 101 will not have a seconds register. Later movements such as the Third Model 121 and 151 are of considerably higher quality and therefore have such details as bridges and seconds registers in the Open-Face models.

Here is a topic "Rarely seen South Bend 150" where we got rather deeply Wink into a 150 and discussed the relationship between the 150 and 151 Grades. Below, see number 770225 an Open-Faced ladies watch.

Keith-

The quick answer I can give you from looking at the parts catalogs is that all model 1 & 2 Os South Bend open faces did not have the seconds bits. All model 3 Os S.B. had the seconds bits. I would say that the model, not the grade, is the more important part to wether or not it has the seconds bit. I currently own a 121 (17 jewel O.F. Model 2), which does not have a seconds bit.

I would love to see a picture of the 121 dial and movement.

Thanks to Jared and Lin for the information.
