Ball & CO 21J Sunray Damasceened ORRS "Click" to Login or Register

Just got an 18 sz 21J Ball and Co sunray damasceened ORRS watch in LA. ( 118660 ) I checked my lists and the Hamilton factory records and it would appear that two runs of 100 in the 42xxx serial number range and two runs of 100 in the 118xxx range for a total of 400 21J Ball & CO watches were produced.

Just as with the 17 J ORRS, it would appear that many of these were fitted with replacement barrels for the Brotherhods. Of the four hundred I have 28 observations and only 4 of them are ORRS! I know rarity doesn't always equate to value, but I feel very lucky to have one of these beauties!

happy hunting

It appears there is a third run of 100 21J watches in the 118xxx range. I had a question mark after that run as Hamilton records weren't specific but a recent report shows us a 21J example in that run.

Thus a total of 500 21J Sunray produced and 31 observed with 6 of them being ORRS!

happy hunting,

Whoops! missed the obvious first run of 21J, 28601-28625. Revised total production of 525 Ball & CO 21J. Still only 6 ORRS observed from the new total of 34. The three additional reports were all brotherhoods.

I have no observations or reports in the run of 118401-500. I think that is the only run remaining that might be 21J. Anyone have a sighting to report?

happy hunting
